thank you

I just wanted to say THANKS to all of you who have called to check on Ashley yesterday and today. She is feeling somewhat better as of right now. NO FEVER. That always makes you feel rotten. She has layed on the couch and played Guitar Hero and Mario Cart this morning. I've been trying to keep my usual cleaning, laundry routine and trying to keep Charlie away from her as much as possible. So thanks again for checking on us we do appreciate it.

Yikes

Well, I decided to go ahead and take Ashley to see her Doctor tonight. I had checked her temp at 5:00 and it was 101, gave her an Advil and had her rest. She fell asleep and when I checked on her at 6:30 she was burning up. Her temp spiked to 102.4. I figured that we should go ahead and get her checked out. And. TA-DA she has the FLU and some sort of throat thing. He said her glands are super large and gave her 3 rx's. Please keep your fingers crossed that she gets better and that Charlie stays well. She can't go back to school until probably Friday. Can you say Make-up work!!Yikes. She has never missed this much school in her whole school career.

Uh Oh

Well, I got the dreaded call from the school nurse today.

"Mrs. Romans, I have Ashley here in the nurses office with 101 temp."

I then get on the phone to TRY to get an appointment with the Doctor. Uh HELLLLO, Apparently Doctors don't see sick people on the same day you get sick. Go figure HUH. They are too busy seeing high blood pressure and high cholesterol! I can say this because I used to work in the same doctor's office that I am referring to. It frustrates me to no end. Sick kids should NOT have to wait to the next day to be seen. Anyway, on the way home we grabbed breakfast and a large diet coke for fuel. We'll manage, we always do!!!!

Like Father... Like Son

I know that this video is dark and grainy, but it was the best I could get without ruining that whole thing and waking him up.

Ashley and I were sitting in the living room, waiting for the ride to school, when I hear this strange sound coming from the baby monitor.

All I can say is ......LIKE FATHER...LIKE SON!

Sumo Girl

This cracks me up. Ashley is going to be in a "TOP SECRET" activity at school next month. This is part of it. I have no idea what they are planning. I just know that I had to order this sumo suit for this. It arrived yesterday from Oriental Trading. They have some neat stuff for parties etc. I was cracking up when she put this on. BTY if you are affiliated with our school, don't say anything about this outfit or program. It is supposed to be some sort of surprise.

This Breaks My Heart

This picture could speak for itself.

I am sooo sad to see this on my poor, sweet son. He is so "accident prone". There is something about his poor head that gets all the trauma. This knot came from who knows where. He had an "episode" last night and was put safely in his crib for a "time out." Then he merged out with this beauty. He also climbed on the bed and fell against the top of the bed and hit the middle of his forehead the night before last. WHY are boys soooo very accident prone? I fell horrible to see my precious boy all banged up!

Rock On...

You Rock Man

We finally made a small investment in the much wanted Guitar Hero World Tour. ALL of us really wanted to get it. We have it for the Nintendo DS and I myself am the CHAMP. This is really a fun family thing to have. We are sooo very glad that Santa got it for us.

Pearly White

Charlie has really enjoyed having his teeth brushed. He even brushes them himself.

I see PINK....

I forgot to post last week about the newest addition to our family. My nephew Cody and His Girlfriend Haley are expecting a baby girl the 5th of May. I kinda was hoping for a boy, so I could have someone to give all of Charlie's clothes to! But, we will need to buy pink instead. I know her first name will be Mackinze, but not sure on a middle name just yet. Little Haley is sooo adorable. She is a very tiny thing so now she just looks like she has a small basketball under her shirt. I wish them lots of luck on their upcoming arrival. I am really having a hard time dealing with the fact that I'm going to be a GREAT- AUNT. OH HELP ME!!!

Table for 3 Please

As you can see.. Charlie only has his potatoe skin and roll left on his plate. His steak is all gone.

Well, why go out for dinner and WAIT and WAIT when you can have a delicious
steak dinner at home. (without all the fuss of dressing up and paying the high price!) Last night Henry and I decided to grill some ribeyes and all the trimmings. We only had one of the 2 children present. UHHH can you guess which one? Charlie loves to eat him some meat. We joked last night and said that Charlie was on the Adkin's diet. LOL

After dinner we rented Nights in Rodanthe on PPV. Heck we even had popcorn and chocolate also. Just like being at the movies, minus the teenagers making out in front of us and the people kicking our chairs behind us! It sure is nice to be home isn't it?

Memories

My SIL, Jerilynn, wrote a while back about memory pieces. I thought I would write about 2 memories I have of both my Grandmothers.

The first one is a Tea Cart that my Grandma Hedger always had as long as I can remember.

I used to play with it and when I was younger I thought it was sooo cool.

When she passed away 6 years ago, and we were cleaning out her house, I decided to keep the cart and bring it to my house. It always housed her fancy coffee cups and saucers with the gold trim. Today it is in my kitchen holding my small collection of cook books and nick-nacks.

The second memory is not an item, but a smell that will forever and ever remind me of my sweet Nano. It is the smell of Spice Tea. The orange clove type smell. My Nano always had a jar made up for us kids when we came to see her. The women would always be in the kitchen talking and drinking coffee, and us kids got to have a warm cup of spice tea. Yumm! My mom gave me a box of potpourri the other day that smells just like Nano's spice tea. I lean over and get a good sniff every day.

What would we do without our memories of the dear people we love. My poor Nano who has Alzheimer's is loosing hers everyday. How sad to have all of those vanish. I can only pray that this horrible disease will not touch anyone else in this family.

I Quit....

No I did not quit my job!! I've decided to "TRY" to quit going to Wal-Mart. They really make me mad. I'm tired of going in and buying a box of diapers, and since it doesn't fit into a bag, I'm asked for my receipt to make sure I didn't steal them! This also happened before Christmas. I went in a bought a Little Tykes basketball goal for Charlie through the self check out. (You know they never have cashiers these days) Well the little old man "watching" the self check out lines said, "Did you ring this up?" (pointing to the large box in my cart) I said "Yes!" He then says "I didn't see it ring up!!" WHAT...... I got pretty irritated at that and showed him my receipt. Then not 20 steps away the elderly "door monitor" asked me for my receipt AGAIN! I then said "I just showed it to him!" Left mad and really felt like they thought I was a shoplifter. Uh Hello..do I look like a shoplifter?

Well, today was the same thing leaving with diapers. I just feel like if this is the way they treat their customers then I don't want to be a customer any longer.

Now whether or not I can stay away from walmart or not, we'll see. But I am on a mission to try.

Wish me luck. I do go there everyday!!!!! LOL

Another one down...many more to go

The paint color is Mayapple by Glidden

Well, we had a productive weekend. To start out, I am now going to be working on Saturday and Sunday instead of Friday Saturday like I have been. It kinda stinks, but HEY it is only 2 days a week and 8 days a month. (I'll live!)

We decided to go ahead a paint our kitchen. Friday we made a quick stop to Home Depot for paint and supplies, and started painting away. We finished up tonight. We ended up painting the trim also so it did end up taking longer than expected, but as usual after alllll the mess, it was well worth it. I love the color with all my pepper stuff. Next room on the list is the KIDS bathroom. Found a gallon of "oops" paint at Home Depot for $5.00. Now I have to find a matching shower curtain and decor. The paint is a greenish color, so it should not be hard to match. I love home decor projects, just wish I could pay someone to do all the work for us. LOL

...WHY?....

I'll make this short. But my question for today is why? I'll start out with the more serious and end on a lighter note.
I came across a new blog yesterday. "GO Blog Yourself" I believe is the name. It is a story of a little beautiful 2 year old who passed away last week after battling cancer. WHY? (I'm still tearing over the story) Horrible tragedy for that family. She was a twin.
WHY do children have to suffer?
Why are babies born with life threatening illnesses who's parents have tried many years to conceive them? WHY?
I know GOD has his reasoning for HIS work, it just seems to tragic and sad.
Last but NOT least...WHY...does my Sister-in-law, Jerilynn
have to sub in P.E. today. HA HA
Hope those tube socks and wrist bans match girl.
I told you I would end on a lighter note.
I trying to "not sweat" the small stuff of everyday life, and be thankful for my family
and our health. We are all so lucky to have what we have.
P.S. I did learn yesterday that a neighbor of ours has been diagnosed with lymphoma. I'm sure they are very scared right now. Let's add them to our prayer list.

Mess pot continued...

This is what I found the other day. This kid is soooo fast at getting into stuff. It is crazy how extremely busy he is. No wonder I feel like I can never keep up around here. I have to do everything twice. Ha Ha.

What in the world happened?????

Today I was putting fresh sheets on our bed and Charlie was running in and out like a crazy person. He was playing with Domino like usual. After getting my bed all made up this is what I walked into in the living room...............
.........This is some of the laundry that I had just folded and was about to put up! Guess I'll be re-folding huh!

Oh what a glamerous life......

Ok I really have NOTHING to complain about. But I watch a "reality show" The Orange County Housewives, and I love it. Today as I was doing my daily routine I was thinking about how "HARD" their lives really are. I mean don't get me wrong going to champagne brunches daily has to be tough. LOL I think that show gives "housewives" a bad name. I'm not a completely a stay at home mom-wife, since I do work outside the home. Before I got this privilege of staying at home most days, I used to think stay at home mom's had it sooo easy. Especially since I was single-mom and worked, paid the bills, cooked cleaned and all the other things by myself. Things that I now take for granted sometime, since marrying my best friend, the most wonderful husband, father and provider a person could have. So as I sit and ramble as a load of laundry tumbles in the dryer, Just thought I'd say a shout out to ALL mom's. Whether you stay home or work full time. running a household is a lot of work! Instead of a big salary, I get paid with hugs, kisses, smiles and thank yous. Now that is the best pay of all. (sometimes I NEED a Raise.) LOL

This is Cool..

As you can see I changed my hedder again. Thank you Jer. for showing me how to do it. This was my first one and I hade a lot of fun with it. I will probable be changing often until I find just the right one that I love. So here's to learning a new trick.
