Favorite Thing Thursdays

This is one of my new "Favorite Things". It works great on cleaning my mini-blinds in a hurry. I also use it to do a quick dust if I konw company is coming over. Of coarse I still have to do the full "wet" dusting, but for a quick touch up, this is great.

We Have A Love Hate Relationship

This little thingamagig can be a life saver that is for sure, but it may just be the death of me! (not really!) The nurses that get these little babies hooked on these should have to get them unhooked. This little thing rolls, bounces and gets lost faster than anything I have ever seen. They don't make those little pacifier clips to clip them to their clothes either. We should have bought stock in these things. If your ever out around town and see one of these little things rolling down the street, it probably once was in my son's mouth!

Charlie's Biggest Fan

Who knew a little 7 lb. baby could turn this guy to such a softy! They have such a great bond, and Charlie is a Daddy's boy for sure. We love you Daddy!

Charlie's Story

I know most of you who read this know all this, but for those who don't this is Charlie's story. May 25,2007 was suppost to be one of the happiest days of our lives. We were going to complete our family by adding a new baby boy to the mix. At 1:29 pm here he was a beautiful baby boy (AFTER 3 DAYS OF TRYING TO STOP LABOR, AS HE WAS 4 WEEKS EARLY) I none the less was excited for this pregnancy to be over! It was just minutes after delivery that the nursing staff noticed something not right. His little belly was not as litte as it should have been. So the took him to NICU for testing and evaluation. Finally about 4 hours later we get to go see our son. Well we had now idea what we were in for. He had tubes and tubes and even for me being a nurse I was scared. I'm not sure Henry knew what to think at that moment either. At this point we could really get no answers except WE DON"T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG! He had a tube from his mouth to his stomach and it was emptying TONS of greenish-brown STUFF. What was that? Still no one really knew except that it was not NORMAL. Well at about 10:00pm we had a visit from one of the 2 pedi surgeons we have and she wanted to take our little man to the OR and take a look. At this point they could tell that the problem was in his intestines but as for what they were going to find they did not know. The surgery started at about 1:00 am. We got a call from a surgical nurse about half way through. All I remember hearing is Mrs. Romans, I am so and so, the nurse in surgery with you son. He is doing great. We will let you know when we are done. The next call came at aporx. 5:00 am. He was out of surgery and they would call us soon so we could go see him. Finally we get to see him and what a shock! Our little baby had 4 times as many tubes and wires and was on the vent. Not something any parent wants to see. But he was doing well. He had what they refer to as Bowel Malrotation. Lots of his bowel "died" before he was born. The Doctor had to clean out the dead and reatach the ends. Which in turn caused him to have SHORT GUT! (another story!) Well to make an already long story short, After 3 long weeks of going home without our baby, living in an RV at an RV park down the street from the hospital. (Awaiting to be able to move into our new home and after selling our old home a month earlier!!!!) We finally get to spend the first night in our new home with our beautiful daughter and our handsome son. What a crazy ride he put us on in his first 4 months of life. But look at him now!!!!

A time out!

Well I haven't really had the time to think of new posts due to illness in our household. 3 out of the 4 humans are ill, and I think one dog may have an infected ear (Freckles!) Charlie has had a runny nose and now has a cough. Ashley has an ear infection and is now on antibiotic ear drops, and yes still has a cough. I am finally getting some of my voice back after 2 days of wispering. Went to the doctor today and got an RX. My throat feels like it is on fire and my cough is annoying. Thanks to my wonderful husband who has been so patient with all of us and even took off work today to nurse us all back to health. Hopefully we will recover soon. As for Freckles, who knows, her ear is swollen and she tries to bite you if you touch it. I figure she must have gotten bitten by something. Looks like she'll be the next to be seeing the doctor. Oh well, if it's not one thing it's another sometimes. I guess that's just life!

Pancake eatin' kids

Pancakes have always been a staple food since Ashley was a baby. It doesn't matter if it is homemade waffles, pancakes, or toaster waffles, as long as it is covered in syrup. It didn't take Charlie long to discover that he likes them too. Yum Yum.

Charlie's Sweet Face

These are some of Charlie's 1 year pictures. He was some what of a ham, but had his moments of tears as well. The overalls he is wearing were Henry's when he was a baby. They fit him so well. Who would have guessed they would have still be in great shape after 39 or so years!

Just A Scootin'

Ashley was so excited to get Conner's old scooter that he as outgrown. (Since he has a real car now!) Nanny and Pop made the long trip out here to deliver it to her. There is just one little problem though. The battery will only last approx. 10 min. per charge. Ashley, somewhat disappointed, is patiently waiting for a new battery. The battery store was out of the size we needed at the time. But in the mean time she has enjoyed her 10 min of off roading.

Pretty Ashley

Ashley saved her money she made from selling toys at our garage sale to get a Libby Lu makeover while here on vacation. She had such a great time getting the beauty treatment. Bubba and Charlie waited outside, and were very patient.

Our First Family Vacation

Well this summer (thanks to Uncle Sam) we took our first Family vacation. We didn't venture too far away from home though. We went to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We stayed 2 nights at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, and 1 night in Arlington so Ashley could get a makeover at the Parks Mall. Great Wolf Lodge, I must say has to be one of my favorite places to go now. We all had such a great time and truly can't wait to go back real soon. I am posting some pictures, hope you enjoy.

Welcome to our blog.

Welcome to our family blog. Thank you Jerilynn for the idea. Hopefully I will be good at keeping up with this. Look at these cute kids. Don't you just want to pinch their sweet faces. We have such a great family. Ashley is 9 and is entering 4th grade. Charlie is 14 mo. and gets to stay at home and be a daddy's boy. (and a momma's boy when daddy's not here!!!) Hope you enjoy this look into our family.
